Open and Let Yourself Go
Shamanic trance ceremonies are powerful sacred rituals, a profound path of healing, transmutation and knowledge that uses the sound (mainly of the drum) and the voice, allowing the combined wisdom of the body, the inner self and the soul to find its own path, its own medicine and its own magic.
Guided by Rua Inu Quetzal (Stéphane), the ceremony has three phases through which you will be led. The first is more meditative, the second much more active in movement, and the last more collective. We will begin at sunset and finish during the night. The ceremony lasts approximately 4 hours, though it may run longer depending on the energy of the moment. There is also the option to stay overnight at Finca Putumayo after the ceremony if required or desired.
This shamanic trance ceremony is an offering in service to the life in you and around you. Life always finds its way. This ceremony is also an intimate dialogue with ‘the subtle’, which, always seeking to build bridges between the archaic and the modern, between different levels of consciousness.
There are many different paths to trance and ultimately, they all lead to the same place: the place where the mind and the ego dissolve or fade sufficiently to make more room for the soul, instinct and consciousness. The key is to be open and let yourself go, to allow the energy to flow through you, listening to and following what you feel, making space for the alchemy of heart/body/soul/spirit: In this modified state of consciousness, one can receive many teachings from the Spirits and the higher dimensions of being.
How to Prepare for the Ceremony
These territories are better approached as a seeker and not a conqueror. Therefore, it is necessary to open yourself to the experience with humility, an open heart and mind, entering your sacred temple with respect. Thank you for following these instructions for the ceremony:
• Wear comfortable white clothing and arrive freshly showered but without perfume.
• You will need water and something to cover your eyes (a blindfold, for example), at least at the start of the ceremony.
• You may bring your own drum or maraca if you have one, as well as a small offering for the altar (a feather, stone, flower…), knowing that it will be charged with the energy of the ceremony.
• The undertaking of a small diet beforehand (for 1, 2 or 3 days, as you can manage) without eating meat or drinking alcohol and by avoiding or reducing sugar, salt, sex, screens, social media and other ways of scattering your energy. Instead, try to conserve your energy and focus on what is essential and simple. The idea is to arrive as light as possible but this part is up to you, just feel it.
