Samhain and the Ancestors
The night of the 31st of October, called Samhain in the Celtic tradition, is that special time of the shamanic year when the boundaries between the worlds are at their thinnest, their most permeable, and thus more easily allow all kinds of passages, of journeys. This is why it is the perfect time to connect with the spirit of the Ancestors and our lineages, to honour them, to bring peace to them, to listen to their wisdom and to transform that which is not…
The Drum Ceremony
Shamanic drum ceremonies are powerful sacred rituals, a profound path of healing, transmutation and knowledge that uses the sound (mainly of the drum) and the voice allowing the participants to find their own path, their own medicine, their own magic.
This 3-hour ceremony has four phases:
- In the first phase, I’ll help you to connect with the Ancestors.
- In the second, I’ll be bring a long drum & chant shamanic journey connected to the spirits. In that phase, you’ll have the time to feel and follow what is calling you in the moment: a personal ritual, prayer, dance, meditation or maybe just laying down and journeying that way. In all cases, the aim is to find the way to bring peace & cooperation with the Ancestors, to receive teachings and heal what is ready to be healed.
- The third phase is a celebration of the Ancestors & Life through a collective drum session. It will help us to elevate the energy and create together a unique flow to maximise the potential of the ceremony for each of us.
- The last phase is a sharing circle in which everyone will have the opportunity to talk about their own experience.
This shamanic drum ceremony is an offering in service to the life in you and around you. Life always finds its way. This ceremony is also an intimate dialogue with ‘the subtle’, which for me, defines the shamanism I practise, always seeking to build bridges between the archaic and the modern, between different levels of consciousness.
What to Bring to the Ceremony
- White clothing. Please arrive freshly showered but without perfume.
- An offering (for the altar) connected to your Ancestors or the idea you have of the Ancestors. That offering will be charged with the energy of the ceremony and could later be the link you’ll need to continue the transformation process.
- Enough water.
- Something to cover your eyes (a blindfold, for example), at least at the start of the ceremony.
- Your own drum or maraca if you have one.
